For those so inclined, The Daly Office, Morning Prayer The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
I woke after eight hours of sound sleep.
The weather forecast.
Another good numberπŸ‘πŸ˜Š
I talked with my brother Don yesterday before going to lunch with Cecile and Ronnie. Sid, Jimmy, and Benjiman will be gone all week. They're going to Lake Conroe for a week's vacation. I'll be taking Don to the barber to get a haircut and shave. His beard is requiring more maintanence with which he wants to deal, duh! We'll also be going to the Chinese Buffet in Lake Jackson for lunch. It's his favorite "go to" place for lunch.I'm not comfortable with Sid and Jimmy leaving Don alone for a week without coordinating with me. I'm going stress the importance of answering the phone when I call Don every day to check on him. He has a habit of ignoring his phone and I'm not comfortable with visiting him in person every day. He has fallen a couple of times and he's a bit high maintanence when it comes to eating properly. I'm also very uncomfortable with Sid and Benjiman "borrowing  money from Don to pay the utilities. They're already living there rent free. Jimmy received $900.00 from Don before they left for their vacation so he could order Door Dash meals delivered to Don. That's a scam as far as I can tell. To begin with Don will have difficulty answering the door even if he is able to tell Jimmy what he wants for a meal. I'm going to have a conversation with Don after he gets up today.

For those so inclined, The Daily Office, Morning Prayer Wednesday after the Sixth Sunday of Easter: Rogation Day**Traditionally, these are the three days before Ascension Day on which the litany is sung (or recited) in procession as an act of intercession. They originated in Vienne, France, in the fifth century when Bishop Mamertus introduced days of fasting and prayer to ward off a threatened disaster. In England they were associated with the blessing of the fields at planting. The vicar “beat the bounds” of the parish, processing around the fields reciting psalms and the litany. In the United States they have been associated with rural life and with agriculture and fishing. The propers in the BCP (pp. 207-208, 258-259, 930) have widened their scope to include commerce and industry and the stewardship of creation. The BCP also permits their celebration at other times to accommodate different regional growing seasons. The BOS contains material for a Rogation procession, including petitions to be added to the Great Litany and the prayers of the people. The term is from the Latin rogatio, “asking.”
I woke after eight hours of sound sleep.
The weather forecast.
What happens to blood glucose levels when one consumes a Whopper with cheese (all the way) and a larger order of fries just before going to bed.

It's Scrabble day at church this morning. I'm in enough of a "better mood" to show up.

Houston Food Bank is cut off from federal funding
Quoting the source, if the link is no longer valid, "The Houston Food Bank, a vital lifeline for thousands of families across Southeast Texas, is facing significant food shortages following the end of two major federal programs that once supported its food purchasing efforts. In March, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) terminated two key initiatives that allowed food banks and schools to buy food from local farms and ranchers—cutting more than $1 billion in federal funding. This included the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program, which supported food banks in over 40 states, including Texas."
I'm sure this is the expected outcome for local farmers and ranchers when they voted for DJT. /sarc.

For those so inclined, The Daily Office, Morning Prayer Tuesday after the Sixth Sunday of Easter: Rogation Day
I woke to the sound of thunder and the roar of strong wind after six and one half hours of sound sleep.
The weather warnings and condition.
At least the day is starting within range blood glucose-wise.
Mr, Mistofellees is staying at my feet. I'm surpised he came out from under the bed (his usual go to place during storms.
I'm pleased that I went ahead and ordered a delivery from Walmart yesterday, considering thie messy weather that will continue throughout the day today.

I'm hoping the weather will clear enough to be able to the veteran's PTSD meeting without getting soaked. As I complete this entry the rain is heavy and the lightening and thunder frequent.

For those so inclined, The Daily Office, Morning Prayer, Monday after the Sixth Sunday of Easter: Rogation Day Augustine, First Archbishop of Canterbury, 605
I woke after seven hoours of sound sleep.
The weather forecast indicates that today will be the only day this week I can shop without getting soaked during the rain.
At least this number is encouraging.πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Today is Memorial Day. As a general rule I don't observe national holidays. I especially don't observe a day wherein a nation honors it's war dead after electing a draft dodging felon with a history of disrespecting the military, it's veterans, and the consitution.

For those so inclined, The Daily Office, Morning Prayer, The Sixth Sunday of Easter
I gave up trying to get some sleep around 0430hrs. And now my digestive tract is starting to act up. I'll call William at a more decent hour to let him know I can't bring him to church this morning. This is a do not drive type headache, and the "BM urgency sonata" starting up equals a stay at home day.  I'll be sending Fr. Travis and Doc Carpenter a text letting them know I won't be at church this morning.
The weather forecast isn't looking good for driving or sleeping.
Not the number I was working for yesterday when I was on the exercise bike for twenty minutes. But, whatever -πŸ™Ž‍♂️

A rainy end of week forecast means I may have to stay home most days. I don't drive well with windshield wipers engaged.
This is the second occasion I've missed going to either Scrabble or worship this week. It's depressing in that leaving the house for both activities tends to keep me on a more even keel emotionally (especially worship).

For those so inclined, The Daily Office, Morning Prayer, Saturday after the Fifth Sunday of Easter Jackson Kemper, First Missionary Bishop in the United States, 1870
I woke after nine hours of sound sleep.
The weather foreasty.
Another day starts within the target range, just barely ... πŸ‘

At 1000hrs - Mood swing. For a reason I don't wish to investigate I spent most of the morning reminiscing about times and persons who, while no longer part of my life, shaped many of the attitudes that give my life both stability and turmoil. Although it's probably not the healthiest mental or emotional exercise, sometimes it's an escape in which I indulge. Were others escape into books, movies, or day trips, memory lane is sometimes all for which I have the energy and patience. At age seventy six (soon to be seventy seven) These trips down memory lane have made it clear that the death of those persons with whom one had the most contentious falling out does not bring peace. The death of those whom one thought would alays bring joy into ones' life does not bring sorrow.

For those so inclined, The Daily Office, Morning Prayer, Friday after the Fifth Sunday of Easter
I woke after eight hours of sound sleep.
I stayed up after saying good night to watch a storm chaser channel on YouTube.
I believe he was near Fredericksburg Texas. The storm hadn't produced a tornado by the time I went to bed. The weather forecast for this area.
Another happy number morning.πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
The target range for morning fasting blood glucose is 70-110.

For those so inclined, The Daily Office, Morning Prayer Thursday after the Fifth Sunday of Easter
I woke after six hours of sound sleep.
The weather forecast.
Another happy number!πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
It would appear my whole sleep pattern has changed. I used to go to bed no later than 1900hrs and sleep through to 0300hrs. The schedule seems to have shifted to bed at 2200hrs and a wake-up around 0400 to 0600hrs. I think it's a summer schedule.Last night my head was spinning with mostly happy memories of my days in Columbus, Georgia - the result of this text.😊

At 1814hrs I'm pleased with myself after fifteen minutes on the exercise bike (which was not a pleasant experience for Mr. M) I'm ready for bed.

Another happy number.πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

I blew off Scrabble today. Mood swing (grumpy puss - still upset over some of the discussion at the veteran's meeting last night. I reacted inappropriately to Eloy )😞.

I woke after ten hours of sound sleep.
The weather report.
Another happy start for today.πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

I spent about an hour yesterdy setting up the Excel worksheet for June. The I got a wild hair and paid the balance on the Delta and Optima cards from AMEX. I also used points to bring the balance of the gold card down by $420.

I just received a text From Dr. Ricky (physical therapist). He's waiting on approval for more PT sessions. This is a good thing.

For those so inclined, The Daily Office, Morning Prayer, The Fifth Sunday of Easter
I woke after five or six hours of fitful sleep.
The weather forecast.
A grumpy number.😠

I'm at church, waiting for William to come out of the 1030hrs service. William may be a bit upset on the ride home. If Fr. Travis preaches his sermon from the floor instead of the pulpit, he will be upset.
I panicked a bit when I turned on the laptop. After I entered the pin the screen went blank. After restarting as a part of upgrading I finally gained control. πŸ‘
