Bill, a friend from high school and choir days at St. John's called yesterday. He wanted to know what the reaction was to my leaving Holy Comforter because of the political climate. I had to confess that I whoosed out, and that I'm still a communicant there. Actually I'm still serving on the vestry. I had told him of the resignation letter I had written to the vestry and Fr. Travis. I had missed a Sunday because of a mood swing. Another vestry member, and someone whose friendship I value above the others, texted me to say that a parishioner had asked , jockingly I'm guessing, if I was in jail. Given the current political climate, the eagerness of the orange Caligula to round up and detain the political opposition, in an organization (church or not) that type of joke sends chills down my spine. As one of the minority political party in a church were a majority think the orange Caligula can do no wrong, I honestly no longer feel welcome there.

It's Angleton Peer Support Group for Veterans day, and Eloy calld yesterday to ask that i be the facilitator as he has Covid yet again. I think this is his fifth time. He needs to either styop volunteering at the local nursing homes or keep his vacinations up to date.Not lomg ago, according to the Houston telivision news, Covid cases are on the rise again and Texas leads the numbers. I truly did not want to facilitate tonight's meeting.

After waking at my usual time I watched a bit of YouTube after morning prayer, then when after taking my meds and putting together the coffee for the day I was overcome with sleepiness and decided to lay down back in bed for a bit. That was at aboyt 0430hrs. I woke again at 1330hrs.Getting asleep when I go to bed this evening is hgoing to be a bitch. I'm currently a bit upset as I'm still sleepy and am fighting the urge to go back to bed.

Yesterday was fr. Preston and wife Caroline's fifty ninth wedding anniversary ad Fr. Travis' fiftieth birthday. There was a celebration aftyer the 1030hrs Eucharist, which I didn't attend. While waiting for William to come out of the nave into the parish hall people were already starting to shout at each other. It's what tends to happen when two three are gathered in his name in the parish hall.🤣They revert to their playground voices, and the women especially turn up the volume. Surrounded by that much chatter and commotion tends to push my panic button

and the only effective way I have of dealing with that is to extract myself from the environment. It's the same suituation when during the Eucharist passing the peace transforms the nave into a schoolyard at recess. For that I have to sit and repeatedly remind myself that it will soon be calm again. I used to leave during ther peace to check of the coffee makers. As I've become less stable and more prone to falling, when moving that quickly, that maneuver is no longer an option. The "social hour" after the 1030hrs Eucharist has become much easier to avoid now that William is eager to get home instead of joining in with others. I enjoy giving him a ride to and from church. U getas my sense of humor when I make light of the way church services have changed from the way they were when we were much younger. We both miss the solemnity (what folks now refer to as "stodgy") of the Eucharist.

Yesterday was filled with distracting thoughts resulting in my accomplishing nothing I had set out to do. I did finally get through the online site for paying the water bill and didcovered that my payment for last month had gone through.
At 0945hrs- I managed to bring the litter from Chewy into the house, change the litter box, and take the dirty litter, cut down boxes, and the recycle to the bins. Of course, the rain held off until I was half way dow the ramp.😅 It doesn't sound like a lot of work, and I guess it isn't for someone who doesn't live with dense left hemiplegia at age 77. But, I'm determined to get at least regular household chores done throught the week. Both the physical therapist and the primary care physician at the VA laud me for not "giving up".🏆

I swear, the only time he wants affection from me is when I'm at the computer.😺

Look closely and you'll notice he's sitting on the mouse. Little does he know I've a cordless back-up on the other side of the desk.
He'll be out of my way shortly as there're thunderstorms on the way which will send him under the bed. The high probability of such storms will interfere with my plans to get a haicut. As a result of the TBI I suffered when wounded in Vietnam I've always tended not to drive during inclement weather or after dark. Concern for the safety of others has only increased as I've grown older and my reflexes have slowed as the speed with which others around me drive has become faster. I've been planning on getting a "death row haircut" for weeks now. It's hair cut so short that it no longer insulates one's head from the current passing through the headpiece of the electric chair. I joke that it's the preferred style women like seeing on men as it makes it easier for them to keep the partners in-line.

Back to a good number.😀✔️

I was pretty much wrecked from the trouble with my knee on Thursday and the late night, for me, end of the vestry meeting. I spent most of yesterday sleeping in bed, so all in all I probably woke after more than the stated twelve hours of sound sleep.
The two tasks with the highest priority today are taaking out the trash (I have to cut down more boxes to fit in the bin) and completing the scheduled payments worksheet for September. I'm still recovering from the $1,200 water heater replacement hit on the budget in August. But with a Dec/Jan payoff anticipated I didn't want to add that to the Bank Of America Visa balance. If budgeted spending and saving go as planned I should be debt free by March of 2026. There's only one anticipated hit on the BOA Visa, Progressive insurance, that might delay my debt free day.
