My neighbor is living on Social Security and from what I can tell hasn't the resources to run even the window air conditioner in her mobile home. This means she spend hot days and warm evenings in her yard which she takes great pride in maintaining its appearance. She most often has company and they enjoy listening to the radio (I know I thought that was an eighties thing) and drinking beer. The radio, and sometimes her conversation, are loud enough to "muffle" their way into my environs. It's going to be one of those nights. After her guests leave (I can't imagine them joining her in her easy bake mobile home after it's been warmed by the Texas October sun) she'll eventually go inside by herself and tie her dog in the yard for his nightly recital. It's going to be a long night. Mr. Mistoffelees has taken to scratching at his reflection in the mirror in the office and a framed poster of the Springer Theater production of The Lark. I think at age thirteen he's starting to get lonely. I feel guilty because was I thinking I would have brought another kitten his age home thirteen years ago so they could gow older together.
