Spent the first hour or so placing an order for delivery from Walmart. ($137.00) Trying out a new tactic for Sunday mornings. I included muffins and coffee creamers in the order so I won't need to stop in at Walmart on my way to church. I was spending $10.00 a week eating breakfast from McDonald's waiting for Walmart to open. That's $520.00 annually that can be put to better use. Another benefit will be that the predawn light will be strong enough to see the code buttons on the door lock to the parish hall. The parking lot security light has not worked for months and the fluorescent lights for the canapy are kept off to save on the utility bill. At eight hours a night times the 240 watts used would equal 1,920 watts or 1.9kilowatts. per night. Leaving them on from Saturday night at 2000hrs to Sunday mornings until 0600hrs would cost approximately $2.00 per weekend time fifty two or $104 per year. I would gladly contribute that much in addition to my pledge not to stumble around in the dark. I may just nail the figures down so that I can propose such at the next vestry meeting.
I tried calling my brother Don to wish him Happy Thanksgiving yesterday. He didn't answer. I think he may have been more than a bit mifted that Sydney and Jimmy took Benjiman to his nanna's for Thanksgiving instead of staying next door and preparing his favorite feast of turkey, rudabega, and bread stuffing with jellied cranbery suace, pumpkin pie, and whatever. I may have hurt his feelings by refusing to bring him to the chinese buffet in Lake Jackson. I told him that I wasn't about to face holiday crowds for a national holiday. The truth be known I don't celebrate holidays that are holidays because of government fiat, especially when the citizens of that same nation vote to have the government headed by a convicted rapist, liar, and grifter. Voters let the air out of that balloon on November fifth 2024.
Although I'm not a Roman Catholic I do read the National Catholic Reporter on occasion. Most recently I read an article I find in agereement with my opinion of President-elect Trump trump-hires-down-way-down Quoting "Of course President-elect Donald Trump nominated now-former Rep. Matt Gaetz to be the nation's attorney general. Jeffrey Epstein isn't available. It isn't easy trying to make sense of Trump's selections for the Cabinet and other important positions in his administration. But a kind of logic emerges as soon as you realize two things: Trump is someone who hires down and he thinks of politics as essentially performative. So, why would anyone trust Gaetz with a position of responsibility, let alone nominate him to become the nation's chief law enforcement officer? If you are the first convicted felon to be elected president, as Trump is, it makes sense to hire a man who was investigated for having sex with underage girls. People are less likely to think the president is a scumbag if he is morally superior to the person standing next to him."
