I'm the vestry person of the day today which means I'll be busy until 1300hrs or later. I hope the rain holds off until I get done stopping at Buc-ees to fuel the vehicle and buying some muffins at Walmart. I've checked my Email for a preview of what was delivered to my box at the cluster box, there's nothing in it to motivate me to stop and pick it up.
At 0338hrs- It's been raining, off and on, for the past hour or so. It currently sounds pretty light, but I'll bet dollars to donuts when I step out the door to leave for church it'll be "raining cats and dogs". I normally don't leave the house on rainy days as I've no way of getting to the car without getting soaked. Once I arrive at my destination I usually have no way of getting from my car into the "venue". My left hand hasn't the strength or control to hold an umbrella while my right hand manages keys and door handles. I thought of buying a rain hat and coat, but unlike the region of the country from which I come there are no coat racks, hooks, or check rooms that I know of at any of my usual destinations. The closest apparel I have for minimal protection from the weather is a Holy Cross Monestary hoodie which, again, I'd have to continue to wear at my destination making for a warm, uncomfortable morning.
At 1118hrs.- Well, the morning did not go as planned.
After going to Walmart and buying some muffins I arrive soaking wet as the heavens openned when I was between my vehicle and the entrance to Walmart, and then again after parking at the church and getting into the parish hall. That wasn't the deal breaker. I laid out the muffins on the table, along with a new bottle of pumkin spice coffee creamer. I had finished preparing the coffee for early arrivals and suddenly had that urgent feeling to find a toilet. I almost made it on time. I called Fr Travis as I was loading the washer with my boxer shorts and jeans. After taking a shower and consuming two Imodium AD gell caps things are starting to settle down, but tummy town is still in revolt.
At 1515hrs, It's been quite the day. As my mother used to say, "he's all pooped out, time for bed"
