I woke after seven hours of sound sleep.
I got a haircut yesterday after church, then I went to Kroger and looked for Mr. Mistofollees favorite treats. I ended up getting Wheaties, Special K, and um, ice cream. Today is Geezer breakfast day and as much as I'd love to go to Denny's or IHOP in Lake Jackson, I think we'll stay in town. I talked with Ronnie's step daughter in church yesterday and learned that it's not Ronnie who's oppposded to getting care at veterans facilities, but his wife Cecile. Her stated reason is her belief that Vetern's hospitals are for veterans injured in combat, or who can't afford nongovernment facilities. That mirrros Ronnies staemrent that I'm sponging off his tax dollars by receiving compensation for the injuries I incurred in Vietnam. I believe it's that same mind set that makes it easy for some to agree with calassifying veterans with welfare cheats, working the system for benefits for which they don't qualify. I have a response for that. The bailiff at the vetern's court once asked how much I receive as monthly compensation from the VA. When I told him to look it up online - that it's a matter of public record, he remarked (complained) that it was more than he gets paid for working at the court or at his old job as a high school history teacher. I responded that as a person about my age he had every opportunity to join the army, go to Vietnam, and get wounded. I didn't mention that had that been his plan, beiong deliberatly wounded would clasify him as a "welfare cheaT".
Breakfast with Ronnie was fun.
TEmperatures are looking good forthe electric bill.
